The Eagles had a tough challenge the first game back after Christmas. They took on Forest Hills Northern who is one of the top ranked teams in the state. The Eagles came out with a lot of energy and frustrated FHN on the defensive end. The Eagles found themselves up 13-8 after the first quarter. The 2nd quarter the Eagles continued to control the tempo and frustrate the Huskies by playing great defense. The teams went into halftime tied 25-25.
During the 3rd quarter the Huskies best offensive threat, Sadie Knee was able to score some baskets in transition and she scored 10 points in the quarter which lead to the first FHN lead of the game. The end of the third quarter FHN was ahead 44-40.
The Eagles struggled to score in the 4th quarter and ran out of energy on defense and FHN was able to pull away with a final score of 58-44.
Haily McBride really set the tone for the Eagles on defense by putting relentless pressure on FHN’s top player. Rory Pruis set the tone on offense by cording 13 points. Freshman, Liv Brunink had 10 points and 5 rebounds. TaNyla Billips did a great job off the bench scoring 6 points and having 6 rebounds. Emma Witte lead the team in assists with 4 and she also had 6 points.
