The Eagles rallied together for their last swim as a full conference roster Saturday. The energy in the room was high and the eagles swam their hearts out to cap off a good season. For being the smallest team on deck, the eagles made a lot of noise (both in and out of the water!). The 200 Medley Relay took 3rd behind EGR and FHC with a lightning fast 1:51.26. All four athletes on the A Medley were un rested! Becca Burrows anchored the medley in a time of 23.91- the fastest split of the meet in all events and she also took the title in the 200 Freestyle and locked down a pool record with a time of 1:55.20. Team Mate Doyle managed to get her hand on the wall to claim the 8th spot in the 200 free as well. Anna Haaksma swam a solid 2:12.13 in her 200 IM to take runner up behind Israels of EGR. Sytsma edged out two Jenison swimmers to take 14th in the IM as well with a season best 2:24.67. The 50 freestyle was loud and exciting with Kristin Winkle (FR) taking 12th with a 25.83 and Senior Ellie Meyer taking 7th with a 25.54. On the boards Freshman Naomi Grix managed to be one of two freshman divers who scored this weekend sneaking into the top 16 in prelims! In the Fly Burrows and Doyle touched for 3rd and 8th respectively at 59.62 and 1:03.24. Ellie Meyer took the B final with a time of 55.98 getting her individual state cut in the 100 free in the process. Close behind her was freshman Winkle again at 57.22. Tatiana Hoegterp qualified her state cut in the prelims of the 500 and locked the 8th spot in finals which she held. The 200 Free Relay took 3rd with a time of 1:40.35. Claire Sytsma touched for 7th in the A Final of the 100 backstroke at 1:02.76 and Kate Klave touched for 12th at 1:05.41 in the B final. Haaksma showed up again in the 100 Breast with a runner up time of 1:08.34 and Zoe Turner touched for 13th at 1:13.43. Finally in an epic showdown, the 400 free relay took 2nd with a time of 3:44.15 with season best splits across the board. A phenomenal effort to finish a great weekend of swimming.
