The Eagles played hard but ran out of time, losing game two 15-12 to GR Catholic Central. Haily McBride worked hard on the mound against Catholic Central’s tough offense, getting two strikeouts. The Eagles bats got going right away in the first inning with 4 hits that brought in 3 runs. Lily Gaastra and Jenna DeVries both had singles while Lilly Dekker and Megan Hermen both had doubles. Catholic Central fought right back bringing the score to 3-4 at the end of the first. The Eagles defense stepped up going three up, three down in the second and third inning. Going into the 5th inning the score was 6-3. The Eagles rallied and put together 7 hits, bringing in 6 runs. Lilly Dekker, Haily McBride, Jenna DeVries, Annika Smits, Avery Quinn, and Lily Gaastra all had singles while Megan Hermen had a double to center field. Catholic Central pushed right back bringing the score to 15-9. Top of the 6th the Eagles didn’t give up and rallied to score 3 more runs. Unfortunately, the game was called due to light. Getting hits in the 6th were Leah Wynbeek, Jenna DeVries, Avery Quinn, Ella Koetje, and a double by Haily McBride.

Congratulations to our Senior Leah Wynbeek, and her parents John and Mary Wynbeek on Senior night. Thank you for a great 4 years of dedication and hard work to the Eagles softball program! We look forward to having you back for our Alumni game next year!
