The Varsity Girls soccer team returned to action Wednesday afternoon against Wyoming. The scoring for the Eagle started early with Sr. Ana Mucci hitting a shot off the crossbar only to be knocked in by So. Claire Cassiday just 30-seconds into the match. A minute later, freshman Liv Brunink scored unassisted and repeated the feat 2-minutes later to make the score 3-0 less than 4-minutes into the match. Junior Elizabeth Williams kept up the scoring with a volley from 12-yards out on a cross from sophomore Olivia Gray. After a long distance goal from senior Emily Nelson, Gray got into the action again with two more goals in a 3-minute span, the first on an assist from freshman Bryn Bonnema, the second unassisted. Sophomore Emma Witte capped the scoring with 2-minutes left in the first half, concluding the 8-0 score line. By rule, the match was concluded if either team has an 8 goal advantage after the completion of the first half.
The win puts the Eagles 10-1 in the conference with one game remaining.
The Eagles face Plainwell, a strong non-conference opponent, on Friday evening at 6:00 pm at Eagle Stadium and conclude their regular season next Monday against Wayland at 7:30 pm for Senior Night.
