Eagles Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse ended their 2018 season in a game that was called mid-second half due to thunderstorms, falling to East Grand Rapids, 2 – 16. Goals were scored by senior Sophia Parolini and sophomore Madison Quist. Sophomore Rachel Kooienga was credited with an assist. Junior goalie Lydia Phelps was credited with 10 saves. Junior midfielder Kate DeYoung was credited with winning 5 and controlling 1 draw. Sophomore Rylie Schrotenboer was credited with winning 2 and controlling 1 draw. Other players credited with controlling the draw were Sophia Parolini and sophomores Kooienga, Lucy Lantinga (2) and Audrey Monahan. Kooienga earned the team’s Ground Hog Award her good work on the draw, 2 ground balls and causing 1 turn over. The team’s Defensive Player of the game was junior Katie Abolt for her good work turning players away from the goal, scooping 3 ground balls and causing 1 turn over.
