The Eagles hosted Wayland Monday night for their last match of the 2019 season. The Eagles came out strong and created many chances throughout the first and second half.
But it was Ava VanOtteren that found Jess Larsen for a clean finish in the first half to secure the final win of the season.
For coach Hamilton, it was the completion of a season marked by GRIT. Throughout the year, the Eagles managed injury and sickness. They battled in training sessions and match play. And they learned from their non-conference opponents in order to better compete in conference play.
And as a result, it was the best posted result for the GRCHS Girls JV Soccer program in the last seven years.
The Eagles only had one conference loss and outscored their conference opponents 27 – 3. And they had seven shutouts—showing defensive GRIT. But more than anything the Eagles played not for themsevles or for a posted score, but for one audience—giving Him the glory in all play throughout the year.
The Eagles will celebrate their season Wednesday night as coach Hamilton and Mouw give out awards and recap the season with players and parents.
