After a couple of weeks on the road, the Eagles hosted South Christian Monday night at Gainey Athletic Complex. The Eagles had previously captured a win against South Christian early in the season but could not find the back of the net Monday night.
The Sailors pushed a lot of balls through the middle of the pitch and eventually found a long ball resulting in their first goal of the match. The Eagles had a couple of opportunities but the Sailors defensive line made last-minute touches pushing the ball out of reach for a shot.
The Eagles started the second half strong and had, once again, their fair share of looks on frame. However, the Sailors snatched the momentum and found the back of the net to extend their lead on a breakaway pass up the middle.
The Eagles goalkeeper, Marylou Biango, made over 10 saves throughout the match and ensured her team had a chance to secure a tie or even a last-minute victory. She had her best match of the year and had some truly incredible saves to keep the Eagles in the match.
With the loss, the JV Squad now stand 6 – 1 – 1 in conference play. They host Thornapple-Kellogg on Wednesday at 6:30 pm (Gainey).
