JV Eagles beat Grand Haven Blue, 8 – 7. Goals were scored by junior Millie Winkleman; sophomores Anna Hart, Isabela Hernandez, and Grace Ydenberg; and freshman Kiera Zylstra (4). Sophomore midfielder Anna Hart was credited with winning 11 and controlling 4 draws. Other midfielders credited with controlling the draw include Gabrielle Rowland (5) and Hernandez (2). Junior goalie, Kayla Potter, was credited with an incredible 13 saves and 1 ground ball. The entire team played hard in a very physical game, scooping up an amazing 31 ground balls– but the team’s Groundhog Award for the game was awarded to freshman Zylstra for her good work scooping 7 of those ground balls. Defensive Player of the Game was awarded to freshman defender Anna Krault for her good work on defense—turning players away from the goal, picking up the over shots, scooping up 2 of the team’s ground balls and causing one turnover. Eagles were behind 2 – 5 at the halftime, but rallied to overcome the Buccaneers by the end of the game. Way to go Eagles!
