The Eagles played their best game of the season against Thornapple Kellogg Thursday night. With a good jump start to the game, great defense and taking the ball strong to the hole, the Eagles led at halftime and kept their opponent to 7 points in the first half. The Eagles played a great second half but was down by 3 with 16 seconds left. Madelyn Frens ran through a double screen from two of her teammates and drained a 3 to tie the game. In overtime, Thornapple Kellogg took the lead and never looked back. The Eagles battled but just couldn’t get the shots to fall. Katie Winkle led the Eagles with 12 points and 11 rebounds while Madelyn Frens added 9 points. Kailynn Grieve played aggressively on offense and had 6 steals. Lily Gaastra made a key shot in the third quarter and played great defense. The Eagles are set to play Wyoming next week Tuesday.
