Eagles Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse ended their 2019 season in the Regional Final Game against East Grand Rapids, 3 – 20. Goals were scored by juniors Rachel Kooienga (2) and Audrey Monahan. Junior Madison Quist was credited with an assist. Junior Lucy Lantinga was credited with winning 5 and controlling 1 draw. Kooienga was credited with winning 2 and controlling 2 draws. Monahan was also credited with controlling 2 draws. Senior goalie Lydia Phelps, who played the first half, was credited with 5 saves, 1 ground ball, and having caused 1 turn over. Senior goalie Samantha Ridgeway was credited with 2 saves and junior goalie Kayla Potter was also credited with 2 saves and 1 ground ball. Junior defender Izzy Hernandez earned the team’s Ground Hog Award her good work scooping up 3 ground balls and causing 1 turn over. The team’s Defensive Player of the game for the fourth consecutive game was senior defender Katie Abolt for her good one-on-one defense, turning players away from the goal, and scooping 2 ground balls. This is the first time in program history Eagles GLAX team made it to the Regional Final Game– Congratulations for a TERRIFIC season Eagles!
