Eagles Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse beat Spring Lake 16 – 10 in the Regional Semi-Final Game. Goals were scored by juniors Audrey Monahan (5), Rachel Kooienga (3), Lucy Lantinga (3), and Madison Quist (3), and freshman Lili Bouwma (2). Assists were credited to Kooienga (3), Monahan (2), Lantinga, Quist, and Bouwma. Senior goalie Lydia Phelps was credited with the win with 5 saves. Junior goalie Kayla Potter who came in at the half was credited with 2 saves and 1 ground ball. Senior goalie Samantha Ridgeway was also credited with 2 saves. Midfielder Kooienga was credited with winning 12 and controlling 11 draws. Midfielder Lantinga was credited with winning 3 and controlling 3 draws. Monahan was also credited with controlling a draw and sophomore Katie Winkle was credited with winning a draw. The team’s Ground Hog Award was given to Maddy Quist for her 4 ground balls and having caused 1 turn over. Senior defender Katie Abolt was recognized as Defensive Player of the Game for the third consecutive game for her good work on defense turning players away from the goal and causing 4 turn overs. Eagles play East Grand Rapids on Friday in the Regional Final Game. Way to go Eagles!
