Track and Field is measured in quarter inches and hundredth of seconds as the Eagles can attest to at the State Finals on Saturday in Zeeland. In a meet filled with weather delays, and didn’t end until 1:00AM, the Eagles came up just short a few times. Charles Thiam ran a great prelim 110 hurdles, but came in 9th, just .01 seconds out of making the finals and earning all state. The 4×100 team came just short of a perfect handoff on the last leg, but the near miss proved the difference in another all state performance as well. The 4×800 team ran a PR, but finished just 2 seconds out of a medal. On the positive side, Thad Gamble finished third in the 100 meter dash, earning a spot on the podium. ( again, just .01 out of second.) Finally Zach Veenstra took to the track and ran a huge PR to finish 4th in the 300 hurdles. His epic final 50 meters, complete with a dive across the finish, was a sight to witness.
