GRC opened up Winterim with a game against Thornapple-Kellogg. GRC got off to a slow start on the road. TK came out and switched defenses on and off and confused GRC. GRC had to make some adjustments and had to play smaller. Early on Thornapple took control of the rebounding battle and was up at the end of the first quarter 12-6. GRC finally got its groove back and picked up the offensive tempo. GRC got some stops on defense and converted on the offensive end. At the half GRC was up 30-22. The third quarter GRC came out strong on the offensive end and connected on some early three pointers by Brian Hunter and Brandon Schepel. GRC extended its lead 47-31 going into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter Thornapple-Kellogg would not go away and pushed GRC lead down to 6 points. But, GRC turned TK over and converted some transitions buckets and pulled the game out with a 58-47 victory. GRC was lead in scoring by CJ Jones with 17 points, Brandon Schepel with 13 and Christian Baty with 12. GRC returns to action next Tuesday at home against Wyoming.
