On an icy winter day with the last two days off of school GRC got to play some basketball. The Eagles beat the Trojans of Thornapple-Kellogg 73-28. This game was nothing like the first time the two teams met. The Eagles controlled the game from the opening tip. GRC took off running fast as they got a three pointer on the first play of game from Brandon Schepel. From that point the Eagles kept up the pressure on the defensive end. After one the score was 21-6 in favor of GRC. The second quarter the Eagle kept the full court man press on which allowed for some easy baskets on the offensive end. GRC outscored the Trojans 16-4 in the second quarter. The second half the Eagles focused on playing good half court defensive and running good offense on that end. The bench really played well for the Eagles as it was a very balanced attack. The third and fourth quarter GRC outscored Thornapple-Kellogg 36-18.
The Eagles were led in scoring by Brandon Schepel and Donovan Brown-Boyd with 14 points and CJ Jones pinched in 13. GRC returns to action Saturday against Holland Christian at 2:30pm. The game will played at Grand Rapids Christian High School.
