The GRC Eagles invited the Maroons of Holland to GR for a makeup game today. With the strange schedule GRC struggled to get a strong start to the game with the Maroons coming out with a 8-0 run. CJ Jones answered for the Eagles with some strong post play. GRC was able to gather themselves and end the first quarter with a 15-14 lead. Starting the second quarter the Eagles made a strong run with Marcellus Vanderkodde coming off the bench and scoring some big buckets for the Eagles. The first half ended with GRC leading 32-29. The third quarter tight with neither team able to get a strong lead on the other. Heading into the fourth quarter the Eagles were up 44-40. Brian Hunter hit a crucial three to extend the lead midway through the fourth. Eagles allowed the Maroons to stay within striking distance because of foul trouble. GRC was able to make some key defensive stops and made some late free throws to pull the game out 57-49. This game was a great team effort on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
This upcoming week the Eagles have three games Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Monday on the road against Grand Rapids Union High School. Tuesday on the road against Wyoming High School. Thursday at home against East Grand Rapids High School.
