Facing returning D2 State Top 5 FHC, returning D1 State Qualifier Rockford, and current Top 10 D3 St. Joe, the D3 #5 State Ranked Eagles came out on top for the 3rd consecutive tournament victory. The Eagles all played their parts for what was a total team victory.
Leading the way were Senior Co-Captains Tyler Stafford and Marcus Haveman, along with Sophomore Alex Lowell both going 3-0 on the day in their singles flights. Stafford and Haveman are on a tear, having only dropped a few matches combined their entire season. Lowell had a standout day, only dropping a few games in all 3 matches.
The Eagles doubles flights came through to help the team win, but were not perfect on the day. The Eagles tandems were led by #2 Senior Jack Zwiers and Sophomore Grant Moorhead, going 3-0 on the day with very convincing victories, along with #5 Doubles Freshmen Alex Cook and Sam VanSchepen dominating their flight. #4 Senior Sawyer Masselink and Sophomore Eli Kuiper won 2 matches but lost a heartbreaker to FHC 12-10 in the third set tiebreak. #1 Jacobsen /Betten won a big match against St. Joe, but lost a very close match to FHC, and #3 doubles won a crucial match against St. Joe.
The Eagles host Wayland today at 4PM and travel to the loaded Allegan Duals this weekend.
