Eagles News · From WZZM 13 – Xavier Tillman [Eagle Alumnus Class of 2017] learning on the fly at MSU

“During Media Day on Wednesday Head coach Tom Izzo said the most pleasant surprise of training camp wasn’t the improvement of his sophomores, juniors and seniors but instead it has been former Grand Rapids Christian star Xavier Tillman.”

“Izzo says Tillman has lost 20 pounds and brings a cerebral game to practice, along with much needed toughness. The hall of fame coach thought the freshman would be a good player, he just didn’t expect this much, this soon.”

It’s nice to see that Coach Izzo recognizing what we at Grand Rapids Christian already knew.

Meet Recap

On a rain soaked course the Eagles battled the elements of wind and rain to finish second in the MHSAA Regional Tournament at Quail Ridge Golf Club on Wednesday. The less than ideal conditions led to higher than normal scores, but the result was been similar to 8 previous encounters with the Sailors of South Christian this season. With Wayland coming in third it was a sweep for the OK Gold in qualifying for the State Tournament next week at Forest Akers in East Lansing.
The Eagles were led by Seniors Erica Wolfe and Lexi Gezon, each posting top ten medal winning scores of 95. Natalie Mason and Rachael Muir completed the scoring for the Eagles.
