Congratulations to Eagle Alumni Ben VanScoyk (Class of 14) and Sam Kuiper (class of 2015) on being named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars!  Both members of the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles 2013 State Championship team, they have continued their excellence in golf!

Two members of the 2017-18 Calvin men’s golf team have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Calvin senior Ben VanScoyk (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) and junior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) have both received the honor from the GCAA.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

VanScoyk and Kuiper helped the Calvin men’s golf team capture the 2017 MIAA regular season title. VanScoyk later qualified for the NCAA III Championships and continued on to claim second team Division III All-America honors.
