As the high school football season moves into its next pivotal stage with the state tournament, the quest for the next Michigan High School Football Player of the Year continues to its next essential step as well by announcing the top 10.
Donovan Peoples-Jones of Detroit Cass Tech won the award last year and now he is at the University of Michigan. This fall, however, it will not be a wide receiver taking the golden helmet trophy.
This year can easily be called The Year of the Quarterback as eight of the 10 selections are of that position. There are two running backs that have also made the list as well. Our extensive MLive coaches and media panel will now play a role in selecting just four players to be named as finalists. Then, the readers will have their chance to elect a fifth finalist to the group.
This year’s top 10 list includes the Eagles’ own:
6-foot-2, 190 pounds
