Game Recap

A big second half propelled the Eagles to a 74-52 win over Romulus in the State Semi-finals Friday afternoon at the Breslin Center. Trailing by one at halftime, the Eagles dug deep for possibly their best quarter of the season, outscoring Romulus 24-8 in the 3rd. JB Beck led 4 Eagles in double-figures, scoring 24 points and pulling down a team-high 9 rebounds. Duane Washington Jr. had a fine game with 15 points and 6 assists, while Seth Millner had 11 points and Thad Shymanski had 10. Emmett Warners had a nice game with 7 points and 5 assists and Xavier Tillman showed his versatility fighting through double- and triple-teams all night, scoring 5 points on 2-3 shooting, but snatching 8 rebounds, blocking 7 Romulus shots and dishing out 6 assists. The Eagles try to become the first GR Christian Boys Basketball team to win a state title in 51 years tomorrow against 26-1 Clarkston. Game time is noon at the Breslin.
