Game Recap

The Eagles lost a barn burner in the finals of the Cornerstone Holiday Classic bowing out in OT with a 45-40 defeat. The game resembled a post season district game with each possession being played out as a “mini-war”. It looked like Christian was going to be sent packing as they faced a 33-24 deficit with less than 5 minutes to play, however, back to back Deesh Beck baskets and three out of four free throws by Leah Singleton helped narrow the score to a one point game. With less than a minute to play Sydney Muller free throw knotted the score at 38 all and after a Cougar turnover Muller had a look from the top of the key to end the game in regulation. The ball bounced off the rim and the Eagles headed to OT. During the extra session, Catholic Central knocked down 5 of 7 free throws and that turned out to be the difference in the final score. Beck had a terrific game with 23 points and 13 rebounds to inspire the Eagles to the near upset. Christian will wait until January 3 to lace up their shoes against Forest Hills Eastern for the OK Gold Conference opener.
