Grand Rapids Christian Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse beat Portage Northern 11 – 4, finishing their regular season play with a terrific 12 – 2 record. Goals were scored by seniors Anna Haveman (2), Samantha Koeman (2) and Jaimie Van De Burg (2); sophomore Sophia Parolini; and freshmen Kate DeYoung (3) and Sophie Holden. Assists were credited to seniors Koeman (2) and VanDeBurg. Freshman goalie, Lydia Phelps, was credited with a 5 saves. Junior defender Sydney Muller caused 5 turn overs, earning her Defensive Player of the Game. Midfielder Jaimie Van De Burg caused 2 turn overs, and was credited with 5 ground balls and 5 draw controls. After Saturday’s win Eagles are now ranked 5th in the State for Division 2 and 11th in the State over all– our HIGHEST RANKING EVER! Way to go Eagles!
