The Eagles Hockey team was able to notch their first victory of the 2011-12 campaign this past Saturday as they were able to hold off another group of feisty Eagles from Hudsonville. The GR Christian Eagles held on for a 4-3 victory after having a lead of 2-0 after the first period and 4-0 after the second period. The third period saw the Eagles from Hudsonville score 3 goals and give our Eagles a run for their money, but in the end, were able to hold on for the win.
The GR Christian goals were scored by Mason Tolenen, assisted by Tyler Boyd and Ben Hopp; Isaac Buffinga, assisted by Wes Johnson; Thomas Reitema with an unassisted, short handed goal; and Cole Devos, assisted by Reitema. These four goals proved just enough for Goal Tender Jake Stille as he faced 34 shots saving 31 for the Eagle Victory.
The Eagles continue action this Saturday as they return to Eagles Ice Center for the first time this season for a 7:30pm match up with the Chips from Manistee.
