Eagle Soccer Moves on to Regionals in D2 State Tournament

The boy’s varsity soccer team looks to continue their winning streak tomorrow night as the Forest Hills Northern Huskies invade Eagles Stadium for the first round of Regionals in the Division 2 MHSAA State Tournament.  The Eagles enter the game coming off a string of three wins beating Zeeland West, Holland Christian, and Zeeland East last week to win the District crown at Holland Christian.  The Northern Huskies enter the game with a record of 17-3-1 overall beating one of the best team’s in the state, Lowell, last Saturday night 2-1 to win their District Title.  The Huskies also boast a defense that has shut out opponents in over 10 games this season including a 6-0 shut out victory in the District Semi-Final game against Forest Hills Eastern who had previously beaten the Huskies 1-0 earlier in the year.  The Eagles come into the game playing their best soccer of the season carrying a record of 13-7-2.  They now have won 8 games in a row since losing to Reeths-Puffer on September 27.  The Eagles and Huskies will kick things off at 7:30 tomorrow night in what is sure to be a physical match up between two well coached and talented teams.  The victor will face the winner of the Dewitt vs Spring Lake match up which will be the first game of the evening tomorrow night.  The Round 1 winners will then face off on Saturday for a 2pm game that will send the winner to the State Semi’s at Plainwell High School on November 2.  The Eagles will look to care of their first matter of business tomorrow night against the State Ranked Huskies.
